Bastion of UK-based media, entertainment, and news, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), has teamed up with The Sandbox Metaverse. Together, they will bring some of the company’s much-loved intellectual property in to the virtual realm, including such heavyweights as Doctor Who, and Top Gear.
Launching later this year, the exciting new collaboration will additionally leverage the blockchain expertise of Web3 specialist, Reality+. As a result, all three companies will converge to build the BBC’s first ever permanent home in the Metaverse.
Through the initiative, the BBC will launch a series of bespoke The Sandbox experiences featuring hit series like irresponsible car show, Top Gear, and intergalactic time-fest, Doctor Who. Essentially, allowing fans of the shows to immerse themselves in their favorite franchise and engage on a much more personal level.
In addition, the mighty collaboration will also see the arrival of a much broader BBC events space. Resulting in a place for the broadcasting corporation to showcase its latest contests and celebrations.

The BBC and The Sandbox Keep One Eye on Sustainability
In order to keep one foot firmly in reality, the BBC’s collaboration with The Sandbox will keep one beady eye on sustainability. As such, they have partnered with several high-flying ecological firms to ensure their carbon credentials remain squeaky clean. As such, Offsetra and Nori will look to compensate for the projects carbon emissions, while WeForest will help restore threatened forests and landscapes.
This incredible new collaboration is not the BBC’s first dip into the world of NFTs and the Metaverse. Previously, it launched the Doctor Who: Worlds Apart card game, also alongside the cutting-edge Reality+ Web3 firm. Various aspects of the world leading media corporation have also dipped into the Metaverse, but The Sandbox collaboration will mark its first permanent virtual destination.
